Goa Shivir 2014 (English)

Day 1 (Nutshell)

Namah shivay! Differently pleasant discipline, differently excellent ambience, different set of people, different sorts of greetings, different tastes, different languages, different lineage. Same Baba ji. Same divinity. More and more energy. The English shivir may be very different from that of the Hindi one in the above mentioned ways but the common thread binding all is the unconditional love of Baba ji.

Baba ji is like a super-sonic aeroplane and the sadhaks are like the passengers on board this plane. To the passengers it seems the plane is not moving. But in reality, it is flying at a very high speed at the sky level, travelling huge distances in a matter of minutes.

At the start of the English shivir, Baba ji has hit the ground running. It is said that well begun is half the work done. To say this about the first day of the English shivir will be a gross understatement. What the sadhaks have experienced in one day owing to the improved discipline, better management and facilities from the Hindi shivir is beyond any phrase to describe a flying start.

Three sessions and two brilliant and very long meditations all on the first day itself. It seems the sadhaks here for the English shivir are way too luckier. Baba ji has been extra kind so far.

The first day also saw Baba ji taking a round inside the auditorium to meet the loving sadhaks who fawned upon finding Baba ji amidst them so near physically. The photos will chronicle the chain of events of Baba ji’s walk down in the audience.

A brief summary of the teachings of today to go with the pictures.

Reminding the sadhaks that they are a being of light, reincarnated in human form to experience divine bliss, Baba ji on the first day of the Goa shivir (English), pointed to the “I” or the illusory sense of identity as the primary hurdle to realizing one’s true self. Baba ji also scoffed at the comical irony of an individual creating the disease on his own but wanting others (doctors) to heal it for him. He added that if the disease was created actively by the individual, the cure must also be brought in actively. He despised the idea of seeking external cure for an internal problem. Terming humans as intellectuals, Baba ji remarked that too much intelligence had actually lead to humans becoming worse than animals. He cited the emotions and characteristics of resentment, difference of opinion, jealousy, cold war, scheming and plotting others’ downfall by humans as worse behavior than animals. Even incompatible animals are not so vindictive, said Baba ji. He asked whether anyone had seen two lions having difference of opinion or a cold war or backstabbing. Urging the sadhaks to rise above careless and ignorant living, he stated that any problem or disease was not a punishment by the God but a signal from Mother Nature that somewhere, the emotions require a positive change. Finally he underlined that the person who makes it a habit to see the negativity in others, reacting negatively to every situation will create psychic impressions every single moment and unresolved issues with every other person.

For the sadhaks, he had a congratulatory message, saying that whoever has taken the deeksha in this shivir will find that the healing mantra has become a friend to him. So whenever there is any disturbance in life, start the mental chanting or repetition of the mantra and command it to heal the problem.
