Navdurga ---Nine forms of Maa Durga

Devi Durga is Goddess of Shakti (Strength, power, energy). Being the deity of the cosmic fort (Durg) she is called “Goddess Durga”. Mother Durga is the embodiment of the divine energy and the creative power. According to the ancient scriptures Mother Durga has nine forms or dimensions. The evolution of Shri  Maha Saraswati, Shri Maha Laxmi and Shri Mahakali (the 3 main forms of "Shakti") took place from Shri Brahma, Shri Vishnu and Shri Mahesh respectively. Each of these 3 deities gave rise to 3 more forms and hence in all, these 9 forms together are known as Nav-Durga. Hindu people worship these nine forms of Durga or nine forms of Shakti during nine days of Navratri.

Durga Shailputri (Daughter of Mountain) : "Shail" means mountains, "Putri" means daughter. Parvati, the daughter of the King of the Mountains Himavan, is called 'Shailputri". The first among nine Durgas and 1st night of Navratras is devoted to the puja of Shailputri . Her two hands display a trident and a lotus. Her mount is a bull.

The second Durga Shakti is Brahamcharini. Brahma that is who observes penance(tapa) and good conduct. Here "Brahma" means "Tapa". The idol of this Goddess is very gorgeous. One hand hold a "Kumbha" or water pot, and the other holds a rosary. She personifies love and loyalty. Bhramcharini is the store house of knowledge and wisdom. Rudraksha beads are Her most adored ornaments!
The name of third Shakti is Chandraghanta. There is a half-circular moon in her forehead. She is charmful and bright. She is Golden in color, possesses ten hands and 3 eyes. Eight of her hands display weapons while the remaining two are respectively in the mudras of gestures of boon giving and stopping harm. Chandra + Ghanta, meaning supreme bliss and knowledge, showering peace and serenity, like cool breeze in a moonlit night. This Durga Shakti rides a tiger. She is mainly worshipped in Tamil Nadu.
With the fourth night begins the worship of Kushmanda, possessed of eight arms, holding a weapons and a mala ( rosary), her mount is the tiger and She emanates a solar aura. "Kumbh Bhand" means to see the cosmic dance in the form of Pindi; the knowledge of cosmic intricacies in the human race. The abode of Kushmanda is Bhimaparvat !
Fifth name of Durga is "Skanda Mata". Rising a lion as Her chosen vehicle, She holds Her son skanda on her lap. She displays three eyes and four hands; two hands holds lotuses while the other two hand display defending and granting mudras, respectively. Its said, by the merch of Skandmata, even the fool becomes an ocean of knowledge.
Sixth Durga is Katyayani. The son of "Kat" as "Katya". Rishi Katyayan born in this "Katya" lineage. Katyayan had observed penance with a desire to get paramba as his daughter. As a result she took birth as a daughter of Katyayan. Therefore her name is "Katyayani" . She has three eyes and eight hands. These are eight types of weapons missiles in her seven hands. Her vehicle is Lion.

Black (or blue ) skin with bountiful hair and 4 hands, 2 clutching a cleaver and a torch, while the remaining 2 are in the mudras of "giving" and "protecting". Her vehicle is a faithful donkey. The destroyer of darkness and ignorance, Kaalratri is the seventh form of Nav-Durga meaning scourer of darkness; enemy of darkness.
The Eighth Durga is "Maha Gauri." She is as white as a conch, moon and Jasmine. She is of eight years old. With four arms and the fairest complexion of all the Durgas Shaktis, Mahagauri radiates peace and compassion. She is often dressed in a white or green sari. She holds a drum and a trident and is often depiected riding a bull.
Ninth Durga is "Siddhidatri". There are eight Siddhis , they are- Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Iishitva & Vashitva. It is said in "Devipuran" that the Supreme God Shiv got all these Siddhies by worshipping Maha Shakti. With her gratitude the half body of Shiv has became of Goddess and there fore his name "Ardhanarishvar" has became famous.Usually shown ensconced a lotus with four arms, She is the grantor of 26 different wishes to Her Bhaktas.

Quaries of Sadhaks----Part 5

Q. 1  Namah Shivaya Babaji I was passing my school today and read the name carefully. It said "Saint Stanislaus High School". This means a Saint started the school in 1865.
What I mean to say is that when Jesuit schools / Missionary schools have done so much for society like economical charges for education, old age home, sports lobby (my school promotes new talent in hockey countrywide ).
Even though our Vedas and other scriptures are way beyond the regular Science and inspite of that we as Indians have given it step brother treatment.
We must move forward and pave the way for schools of thought like Shivyog. If our children when they are young and tender know their true potential by way of Shivyog then I believe they will be more balanced personalities than we are today. They won't have issues like we have. They won't be bogged down at the smallest hurdle in life. They will a 200 % life like you taught us.
Now, Babaji can we start something like this ... Like a Shivyog School. The school apart from formal education must have Shivyog as an important aspect.
Can we device a method by which the philosophy of Shivyog is inculcated in children.
I think in future then we will have a more peaceful society which practices unconditional love rather than the emotional garbage (anger, hatred, etc).
If we start now the result will take quite some time to percolate every part of the society like a Jesuit school.
Our children will be more aware of their bodies and will have mastered self healing by the time they reach our age. They will have a far better health (mind and body) than what we have today.
Today we as parents must take a step towards the above so our children can have a better world to live in. A world full of unconditional love.
I don't know how to go about it.
I am looking forward to your reply
In Love and Light

A. My Baba lost his father when he was only months old. He was the youngest among eight children. He would tell me how it was to live a fatherless childhood, of how in his innocence he wanted toys, good food, but his family could not provide. You see you have said rightfully “emotional garbage “. Garbage is what is dumped, a child is not born with a religion or anger, or sadness, or for that matter anything, he just knows one language that of love, and when that love is not provided, a child’s life becomes insecure full of garbage dumped by other people.
In the same manner Babaji felt how it feels to expect, and then abandoned, and it was at that time he promised to himself that he would not let any other child feel the same insecurities and lack of love. He vowed to provide as much as he could to the children of the earth. He made sure that if he did not have a father he will become the father of millions of children who need a father. This became a purpose, a motivation for his sadhna, and he started that day to work on, with and for all the children, and he has never looked back.
He believes that it is the child who makes the society, and if from beginning the child feels looked after and loved he becomes a wonderful human being. And it is only when he is deprived that the seed of jealousy and hatred are planted in him.
So wherever he goes, he gives the children, best food, the best toys, the best clothes and most of all the unconditional love, which in turn boosts their morals, self worth and dignity, as there is on giving charity to a beggar, the beggar has no self worth, and there is one feeding your son, the son has pride. Baba ji feeds his children, my brothers, we don’t do charity. The word does not exist in our vocabulary. We just give love, receive love in the same way you would do in your family.
I remember Babaji has a habit. He would go to these restaurants in the villages and would start a khata (account) there as in, he would give the owner of the place money and he would command the owner to let the children come and eat whatever they wish, and at the end of each month he would settle the account. When the process started, the children came, and the waiter treated them how the street children are treated usually, so Babaji just casually told the manager that it was the children who were the customers and if they were ill treated, no account and after that the tone changed. Within a month’s time, the children changed their body language, their self respect. They would walk in the eating joint like an industrialist would walk in a five star. They would sit and command the waiter loudly ikrea!! (Come here) order, eat, enjoy and leave. Their whole life had changed with the acknowledgment of the fact that, there was a Baba ji ready to do anything for them.
And not just this, even in the shivirs what does Babaji do? Prepare the parents so that they could love their children the way Babaji wants to love them. A child learns everything from his parents and if the parents are divine, they don’t have any garbage to dump, if they know the art of healing, it can be passed on to the child, so that children know the divinity of the unconditional love. That is the reason behind the whole effort of shivirs, so that Babaji can take care of his millions of children. This is true grass root level. Many have joined the cause, in fact everyone who is a Shiv yogi is a part of the cause as all we know all we are capable of is just give love, receive love and once this is achieved, then all schools will be our schools, the whole world would be our world, the world of divinity.
ONE SUN IS ENOUGH TO SHINE THE MORNING SKY, ONE SPARK IS ENOUGH TO BURN THE BIGGEST FIRE, ONE BABAJI IS ENOUGH TO ENLIGHTEN OUR HEARTS, AND ONE YOU IS ENOUGH TO HEAL HUMANITY.

Q. 2 Namah Shivay Babaji, Ma, and Ishanji.
Babaji in one of his discourses at Lucknow Ashram, mentioned about making a Shri yantra box, in which one can keep their wishes for fulfillment, and send sanjeevani to it. Kindly let me know the process of making the box. Though I have made the box, but I am not confident as whether I have done it the right way.
I do not have any words to express the way Babaji has changed my life. PLEASE PLEASE Babaji, be with me while I give healing and always guide me and my son. Give me bhakti, shraddha and concentration babaji.
Namah Shivay

A. The Shree yantra box can be made by taking a box and pasting the green paper Shree yantra on all its six sides, then placing the wishes in between as chits, and a Meru on top. Place the box in your Puja room and send Sanjeevani to it, the manifestation shall commence.
Blessings
